For the second Friday of January (If you are reading this in 2021), the writing prompt is going to be a little crazy, a little zany, a little… Well, you get the idea.
There aren’t a lot of rules today, so I won’t bore you with those.
What I will recommend, though, is that you try to make this prompt as crazy as possible. Go outlandish and be extra creative.
Why? Well, sometimes when we are writing a novel or script, it stalls out. We get bored with it and seem stuck. Sometimes this can develop into writer’s block or worse.
If you practice crazy writing, you will be able to see past these road block on your own projects. Take a scene you are stuck on and write the craziest thing you can imagine.
Sometimes, those crazy things stick, and you end up writing a few new chapters. Other times, they don’t stick, but your mind is not longer stuck, either.
Give it a try and see what you come up with!
You are putting up a tent when you hear rustling in the bushes behind you.
Don’t forget, though, to share your story using the comment section below!
“This camping trip is going to be fun!” Adam said. He opened the tent bag and started spreading out the pieces to erect the tent.
His wife, Barbara, gave him a sideways glance as she walked by. “Yeah, as long as you get the tent put up right this time. I’m not sleeping in the truck again.”
“I got it, I got it,” he said. “I watched a YouTube video this time.” As Adam struggled stretching out the tent to insert the poles he heard a rustling in the bushes.
“What’s that? Who’s there?” He said to no one inparticular.
Suddenly a man burst into their campsite, obviously terrified, sweating profusely and stark naked.
Barbara and Adam screamed at the intrusion and then noticed the man’s lack of attire. Barbara smiled and turned to Adam. “You don’t get this watching TV at home, that’s for sure.”
Adam tried to talk to the man but he either couldn’t hear or was ignoring him. Adam walked closer, reaching out to touch the man’s shoulder.
“Sir, I asked if you are alright. Which, giving the situation doesn’t appear to be so. Is there anything we can do? Pants, maybe?”
Naked Man turned towards Adam and shrieked. He took two steps back and the stared at Adam like he had never seen another human before. His lips parted to speak.
“You’re… you’re…next.” he stammered at the couple.
“What the hell? Asked Barbara. “Next for what?”
The Naked Man stood there calm and collected, hands to his side and he tilted his head, smiling at Barbara.
Then, he melted. In the time it took Adam and Barbara to blink, a steaming pile of goo where he once stood was all that remained.
